Art in Querétaro

 QUERÉTARO A PLACE FULL OF ART 

The State of Queretaro since its origins has been intimately linked to culture and the arts; its first settlers enriched it with their legacy in the art of quarry carving, which was used by the colonizers for the creation of buildings, fountains, churches, monuments, private mansions and the aqueduct.

Queretaro was conquered and colonized by religious who founded missions in the capital city of the State and in the Sierra Gorda to educate the indigenous people in the faith, but also encouraged the plastic arts such as painting, sculpture and music.

In the city of Santiago de Querétaro, for example, art is reflected in its historic center, which is considered by UNESCO as a cultural heritage of humanity.
